We were all caught off guard by COVID 19. We all had a routine, a certain way of ministering. Now with social distancing, things are much different than they used to be. However, the Ministry must go on. As they say, the show must go on, we also know that we are all the King’s subjects. I would love to share with you five ways to minister during the pandemic.
Standing 6 to 8 feet away from those that need to be ministered to with a face covering or mask.
We can always use our cell phones by connecting with those that are in need of prayer.
You can use the church parking lot and set up a small pop-up tent.
Social media is a great way to reach the lost and those that are in need of prayer.
Keep praise and worship going on behalf of the church. The parking lot, again, is great for this.
Pray For Witty Inventions
In this season we will need to pray for God’s witty inventions. Proverbs 8:12 wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. The Wisdom of God is more than sustainable for the body of Christ during any storm. As you begin to minister the five ways during the pandemic, I believe that God will multiply the five and with the greatest of ease. The five will become ten.
Don’t Quit, The Kingdom Needs You
Watching too much news about COVID 19 can damper your will to minister to others in need. As ambassadors of Christ, we still have a job to do. However, it must be done with the wisdom of God.
Seeing the Harvest of God is something that requires us to look at spiritually. We know that the scripture says in 1 corinthians 2:14 “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
Over a process of time, God begins to remove the scales from our eyes, in order to reveal to us His purpose. Saul had this experience in Acts 9:18 “And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he receives sight forthwith, and arose and was baptized.“
There’s a beginning level of knowledge of saving souls in the harvest of God, over time our consciousness becomes greater in the deep things of God. Jesus also told us this in John 4:35 “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.“
Compassion, Zeal, Insight
There are three things that are required before the harvest reveals itself. Great compassion, zeal, and insight. We know that the harvest is the lost souls. But, did you also know that some of the lost souls are the next generations of ministers?
The souls that you harvest today could be tomorrow’s great Prophets, Pastors, or Deacons to come. Looking at the Harvest should be like looking at a garden full of different vegetables. I learned over time that some of the newly converted souls require more maintenance than others.
Not all have the same desire to run after God at the same pace. Acts 13:22 “But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people because thou hast not kept that which the Lord commanded thee.“
Caretaker of The Harvest
This Harvest is in need of great caretakers and mentors. The caretakers understand that the newly converted Souls, will in time play their part that God has assigned to it. Ephesians 4:11 “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;“
One of the Mysteries of God
The Harvest of God is a mystery itself. Much prayer, fasting, and meditation are needed to fully understand it. As in any Harvest, tools are needed as well as finances. Some farmers tend to 40 acres while some tend to 1000 acres. The anointing on your life will cover what God has for you. As we mature in the Lord we find that our coverage may be local, national, or international.
Just think, God has ordained certain days a particular lost soul to cross paths with you in order for you to bring them to the Lord. So be ready. The opportunity can present itself at any time in any place. PSALMS 37:23 “The footsteps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.“ 2 Timothy 4-2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine
Perfect The Craft
I found that the more that I would submit to God and cry out to Him for understanding, the more He would use me in His Harvest. He gave me a great understanding in order to become a good Harvester. So, along the way, God will perfect one’s craft. When we do something for the Lord we should do it with the “spirit of excellence” and in return, God is pleased. Proverbs 4:7 “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.“
Invest and Fellowship
As you invest in the tools that are needed for the Harvest, it is also wise to have fellow disciples that you can walk with and learn from and teach. If you are a Pastor, you can always start a soul-saving team in your ministry. As new souls are being saved they need to be taught the wisdom of soul-saving in order to save other souls themselves. This method should be a method in the Church. There’s an old saying, “sheep begat sheep.” The worst thing we could do is allow new souls to become comfortable and sit 20 to 30 years in the church and never save a soul.
About the Father’s Business
When you’re about the Father’s business, I believe that He’s even more about our business in a very unique way. I believe that this is the wisdom and favor that Jesus grew in Luke 2:52 “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” God loves to reward the laborers, Matthew 10:24 “And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.” I can truly say that there are a lot of opportunities in the soul-saving department. Why? Because so many will not do it. The one thing that I did learn about Soul Saving is that you can get pretty creative. Somedays I would stand in front of the Family Dollar store with Christian tracks or just go for a casual walk. And other days I would make phone calls to friends and family members who needed to be saved. This very minute the harvest is left unattended. However, God just needs someone who will pick up the ripened fruit.
As you’re working the Harvest and putting all your might and effort into it, you will need to find a time that you can rest. Remember that all soldiers and laborers need to rest. Hebrews 4:10 “For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world.” A word of wisdom; have a really good program for newly converted Souls to learn from.
Proverbs chapter 4:7 declares that wisdom is the principal thing. Also, the Bible declares that if any man lack wisdom let him ask of God and He will give it. When contending with the savings of souls we will see that a level of wisdom is needed in order to be good fishermen of men. And if we lack that knowledge we can ask God to increase the level of our wisdom. The enemy operates at a very high level of wisdom in order to snare men for their souls. 2 Timothy 2:26 “And that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.“
Pray For Strength
The first thing to realize in the savings of Souls is that we cannot do it in our own strength or Earthly wisdom. Full submission to God is critical in order to get everything that is needed. Critical. When contending for a soul, the battle that we face is “superior wisdom.” The Bible says that he that winneth Souls is wise. Here we see that the spirit of wisdom is the first, I think, we should check within ourselves, great wisdom is needed
Ask For Wisdom
In our daily walk with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we should always ask Him for wisdom, understanding, and knowledge. When we enter into the soul-saving part of our ministry, it’s important to understand that a soul can come to Christ at any time and not particularly on our schedule. At any time you can have a conversation with an individual who has not received Christ. Then, all of a sudden you are moved by the Holy Spirit to ask them, “can you receive Christ into your life today?” Sometimes the seed needs to be planted before you ask the question. We call this “seed sowing.”
I find that making it a commitment to study Proverbs every day has heightened my wisdom and understanding. You never know what lies ahead in the day. However, the wisdom in you will be ready for anything you encounter. 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.“
Remember that we are all different and come from different cultures. And, that cultures come with their own way of thinking. This is where God’s wisdom will be most helpful to you. Jesus said, ‘be wise as serpents.” He was giving a dark saying; a saying that is full of wisdom, meaning, and guidance. “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves.” Remember, he that winneth souls is wise.
You Are The Church
Remember that your body is the temple. You are the church and you operate under the laws of the kingdom of God. We often expect that souls are saved just in the church at the altar. I have experienced saving souls at Walmart in the men’s bathroom, sometime in the strangest places. At random times I am led to ask a person can they come to Jesus Christ and many have said “yes.” The strange part of this is that many of them were thinking beforehand of coming to Christ. This left them feeling a great sense of confirmation. We all love knowing that we’re heading in the right direction.
Love Starts at Home
You know the Bible says that “love begins at home and then we are to spread it abroad,” Timothy 5:8. You can always start with the savings of souls with loved ones, friends, and workmates. I promise you this one thing, you’ll never run out of souls to save because the Bible tells us that the road is wide to hell, Matthews 7:13 “Enter us in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there which go in there at.”
Better To ask Than Never Ask
It’s better to ask than to never ask. One thing about the lost souls is that they don’t realize that they are lost. Some can be completely oblivious to things that are spiritual. They will need your complete help in bringing them into the understanding of Jesus Christ. Great love, compassion, and patience are needed. Remember that the lost live for themself and we live for Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 3:2 “For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,“
A good word of wisdom would be to pray to the Lord of the Harvest before they encounter you. It’s also wise to keep the conversation very basic about Jesus Christ. Nothing heavy. Have a good secondary program to receive them as newcomers into the Gospel and honoring the Sabbath. Encourage them to come to bible study, worship, and other programs.
We’re commanded according to Matthews 9:38 to pray you therefore the lord of the Harvest that he will send out Laborers into his Harvest. As Jesus ministered in the city and villages he saw a great need for laborers that would be needed in the Harvest. I believe He saw a lack of laborers and this is what moved him to say “pray to the Lord of the Harvest.”
OH, WHERE ARE YOU?
When we become intimate with the Harvest, it truly gives us great insight on how few laborers there are, which should move us as it moved Jesus to pray for the laborers. While you’re driving or going about your business in life today, do you see the laborers before you? Do they knock on your doors bringing you the Gospel of Jesus Christ? What has happened to us as the church with so little understanding about discipleship. Have we as the church abandoned the Harvest? Have we gotten comfortable inside the church where it’s warm and dry? Are we so lazy to where we won’t even pick up the fruit on the ground that has fallen from the trees?
THE LAZY CHURCH
God can’t be pleased with our laziness, lack of understanding or unwillingness to save Souls. This is always been a problem for the church. Because Jesus said “pray to the Lord of the Harvest” that he would send out the laborers. And today that very word is still alive and the church is the same. Have we become too carnal or too worldly that a commandment from God does not move us?
PLAY YOUR PART
I believe that we all play a role in the saving of the Souls. However, some of us play different parts. The Bible says there are different administrative gifts. This is the key to the success of the savings of souls. It is understanding ones part or gifts. When you find the part that you play, you will find the grace of God on your life that He has given you.
As Jesus came to Earth to do his part, we were also sent here to play a major part.
Laborers with God
The Bible says that we are laborers with God 1 Corinthians 3:9, and that we must be willing to put our hand to the plow. Luke 9:62 “And Jesus said to him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” For those that who are truly called, it is their job and their duty to the Harvest. The Bible says in 1st Corinthians 3: 6 to 8
6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
We, by far, should be able to outdo the enemy when it comes to the saving of Souls. We have God behind us and his full support. The Bible tell us that we are more than conquerors.
In 2004, I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. Within two weeks I’d come under such strong conviction by the Holy Spirit to begin saving Souls. I remember seeing my Bible on the coffee table. I picked it up and walked out the front door down the street to a neighborhood that was known as code red. It was drug-infested, prostitutes and gang members.
Previously in my life I’ve been off and on with the Lord. Saying the sinner’s prayer and then only later to loose my salvation. Being clueless that God had a calling on my life, I had very little understanding of being a minister. I would walk down the street and would come into contact with people and there I would minister Jesus Christ to the Lost.
On The Job Training
Being so new to the savings of Souls, the Holy Spirit gave me “on the job training.” The church that my wife and I attended was a major help in teaching us how to fast, pray, and study the Bible. This is where my strength would be in my fasting and praying, only to find out that it would be dealing with darkness or evil in people’s life that had them captured. The Bible says “being a child of Satan.”
All this was so new to me. But yet within two weeks of the sinner’s prayer I found myself walking the streets looking for lost souls. As I would minster on the street daily, and months on months, I would notice that I was the only one in the streets that would Minister Jesus Christ to the lost in my city and in my neighborhood.
Insight of The harvest
It was as if I was developing this conscious awareness, or insight, on how truly the Harvest is plentiful. I would make covenants with God that I would stay out of the street for two weeks. And I would not stop saving Souls until I would bring 20, sometimes 40, souls to the Lord and then I would rest. All along I was gaining wisdom knowledge and understanding on how effectively to save Souls. In other words, God was giving me great wisdom on how to save Souls. As the Bible says “he that saves Souls is wise.”
Compel Your Church
16 years later, as a Minister, I can truly say that the Harvest is still truly plentiful. However, there are very few laborers to minister in the Harvest of God. I learned over the many years that church is just basically, Church. Is it possible that the church should at least have a soul saving team? Maybe a Soul Saving Center in order to retrieve the lost souls that God requires of us to do for His kingdom.
I save Souls because I was compelled. And, I believe that I was compelled by the Holy Spirit because someone prayed to the Lord of the Harvest. As a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ I can say that the harvest is truly plentiful.
